The Temporary Occupation License (TOL) holders for land at Kampung Perepat in Kapar have a genuine right to be aggrieved at the shabby treatment they received from the Klang Land Office.

For so many years they were told that their land titles were being processed and waiting to be issued. They finally found to their disbelief that the land titles were issued to a Datuk and his relatives.

Can someone please tell me what the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) is doing? Clearly this is a case of corruption here and the silence from the anti-corruption body is really pathetic. And how could the authorities merely dismiss the whole thing as just an oversight?

A statement from the state government that nothing can be done now since the titles have already been issued, is a simplification of the whole matter. If there is negligence on the part of the land office, then restitution should be obtained from a court of law.

The fact that they have made a mistake does not absolve them of any responsibility. If it can be proven that the land office - through their neglect or even oversight - had issued the titles wrongly to another party then they have to be liable.

But looking at the case, it appears quite evident that the whole episode involves a lot of shady deals and that is why the ACA should investigate the matter thoroughly.
