TMJ lectures Najib; S'gor to take EC to court; Husam withdraws 1MDB suit

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines that you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Husam withdraws 1MDB class action suit

Salor assemblyperson Husam Musa and lawyer Matthias Chang have dropped their class action suit against US-based corporations and individuals linked to alleged embezzlement and money laundering involving 1MDB. This is according to a court filing on Friday, in the New York Southern District Court.

Husam later explained that the suit was voluntarily withdrawn without prejudice to incorporate new developments in their initial complaint.

Chang assured all that they knew what they were doing and it was part of their plan.

TMJ tells Najib to walk the talk

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim told Johorean football fans that he had informed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to implement policies and not just talk about it.

Tunku Ismail also had similarly feisty words for Malaysian football clubs whom he said overspent to the point that they had to ask for government aid from Najib.

S'gor to sue over redelineation

The Selangor government will take legal action against the redelineation proposal, after the Election Commission failed to address its query on the matter. In particular, the Selangor government sought an explanation on the constitutionality of the proposed exercise.

In a similar vein, BN component Gerakan will object to proposed boundary changes affecting five constituencies in Selangor, namely Teratai, Bukit Gasing, Bukit Lanjan, Kota Alam Shah and the Parliament constituency of Puchong.

Election watchdog Bersih has invited politicians from both sides of the political divide to take part in its seven-week nationwide convoy to promote its Nov 19 rally, which is pushing for electoral reforms.

More Kini bites

Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown laughed off allegations she received substantial funds to run her whistleblower site via anonymous credit cards, as alleged by new online site, Open Source Investigations (OSI).

A man was detained after alleging that an individual purported to be the personal assistant to a deputy minister threatened to shoot him and his wife. Home Ministry sources told Malaysiakini that the man who allegedly made the threat does not work for Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamad, as was claimed.

Second Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat also denies the alleged assailant is his aide.

Najib spoke up against "politics of hate", which he said does not move the nation forward. He said it was easy to demonise others, although it is the biggest sin.
