DAP's Kampung Tunku state assemblyperson Lau Weng San has called for the immediate arrest of Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos.

This was after Jamal and his red shirts movement clashed with Bersih campaigners in Teluk Intan earlier today after he attempted to snatch their banner.

Lau said police action against Jamal must be as swift as the action cops took against the opposition.

"It was clear that the ones that deliberately sparked chaos and unrest was the red shirts led by Jamal.

"I urge the police to take immediate action by investigating and arresting the red shirts led by Jamal Yunos just as they did in investigations related to the opposition's 'wrongdoings'," Lau said in a statement.

He said police inaction may be interpreted as being biased when it comes to cases that involve those from the ruling coalition.

He noted prior to the clash in Teluk Intan, red shirts activists on motorcycles had also attacked the Bersih convoy in Lumut.

Lau criticised police for purportedly not acting fast enough while they were on the scene.

"They (police) were seen glued to their positions and did not take preventive action nor arrested anyone," he said.
