Several Public Accounts Committee members from both the opposition and BN are believed to have been boycotting committee meetings of late over disagreements with its chief Hasan Arifin.

According to a source who is familiar with the meetings, these MPs were continuously absent when the PAC met between April to October.

The PAC is set to meet again starting tomorrow and the boycott is expected to continue.

It is understood their boycott stems from Hasan's decision to unilaterally delete a key sentence in the PAC's report on its investigation on 1MDB, after it had been collectively approved.

The sentence in question stated that Bank Negara had informed the PAC that Good Star Ltd was owned by an individual not linked to PetroSaudi group.

It has since been established that Good Star is owned by Penang-born tycoon Jho Low, whom US authorities claim misappropriated 1MDB monies.

The company had received US$1.03 billion of 1MDB funds means for a joint venture with PetroSaudi International.

When contacted, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua confirmed that he, together with Teluk Kemang MP Kamarul Baharin Abbas Shah and Selayang MP William Leong, have not been attending PAC meetings.

On whether he would attend the next few PAC meetings, Pua replied: "I might be out of the country".

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini has contacted a BN lawmaker said to have also been missing from the meetings.

Several highly-placed sources have told Malaysiakini that the BN MP in question had indeed been absent from the PAC meeting since the report on 1MDB was tabled.

The PAC meeting tomorrow is scheduled to discuss government-owned Agrobank.

It is understood that two opposition MPs - Kepong MP Dr Tan Seng Giaw and Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan - are not part of the boycott. Tan is the deputy PAC chairperson.

Previously, the PAC report on 1MDB had recommended that former 1MDB CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi and others in management positions be held responsible for weaknesses in the firm's administration.

The PAC also recommended that Article 117 of the Memorandum and Articles of Association (M&A) - which required Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to sign off on major financial decisions - be abolished.

It also said that 1MDB should report to the Finance Ministry, just like how other Minister of Finance Inc (MKD) companies do, and not the prime minister.

The committee however did not recommend any action against Najib, who is widely credited as the brains behind the establishment of 1MDB.
