Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali's judicial review application to declassify the auditor-general's report on 1MDB will be heard on Nov 18.

"I just received the documents on Monday evening, so we need time (to reply)," senior federal counsel Shamsul Bolhassan told reporters at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

The matter was fixed for hearing before Justice Hanipah Farikullah.

Shamsul said the case management has been set for Nov 3.

Azmin filed the application on Aug 15, naming Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, auditor-general Ambrin Buang and the government as the first, second and third respondents.

The application was made under Order 53 of the Rules of Court 2012 to challenge the classification of the 1MDB report as an official secret under the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA).

It also seeks a declaration that the classification of the report under OSA was unlawful and ultra vires the Federal Constitution.

This is on top of seeking a mandamus order to compel the respondents, their agents and officers to declassify the 1MDB report, pursuant to Section 2C of the OSA, and later to release it to the public.

The National Audit Department was among the local authorities that had initiated investigations linked to 1MDB.

Najib has consistently denied any wrongdoing and the attorney-general later exonerated him, following an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
