PARLIAMENT LRT and KL Monorail users are able to claim a refund for their rides if their trains are 15 minutes late, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri.

In a Parliamentary written reply today, Nancy said that commuters could also opt for a coupon which could be used for a replacement journey the following day.

"This same policy applies to the MRT, which is expected to be operational by year end," said the minister.

Nancy was replying to a question from Alor Gajah MP Koh Nai Kwong, who asked if public transport users are able to claim a refund for service delays, similar to what is practised in the UK and Japan.

In the case of London, public transport users are allowed to claim refunds online if London Underground trains are delayed for 15 minutes.

Koh said that such a policy would motivate those managing the LRT and MRT networks to improve efficiency.

At the time of writing, this policy could not be located on Prasarana or MyRapid's websites.
