An aide to former finance minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah has rubbished an allegation implicating the latter in a sex scandal.

"This is Raja Petra's slander," he told Malaysiakini on condition of anonymity.

The aide was referring to blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin who first raised the issue, and claimed that Husni was upset with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for not making him finance minister.

Dismissing the allegation, the former minister’s aide said Husni was cut from a different cloth.

"He is not such a person, he is not like the others. I have followed him for 28 years..

"This (allegation) is done by some evil people," he added.

The Umno-owned Malay daily Utusan Malaysia today reported that Husni declined to comment on the scandal when the question was purportedly put to him after a forum on Monday night.

At the sidelines of the same forum, Husni told reporters that his decision to resign from the cabinet was God’s calling, and not related to 1MDB.

The former minister said he was questioning 1MDB now because the firm had failed to meet its objectives.

"When they first formed it, they said they wanted strategic investment, so after 17 months I asked them again why 1MDB was formed.

"I was cynical with my questions to a point they couldn't answer," he added.

Husni is also being investigated by the police over the allegation of breaking his oath of secrecy when debating the 2017 budget.

Previously, Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia said Husni, former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and ex-rural and regional development minister Shafie Apdal might have breached their oaths by revealing cabinet discussions.
