Police detained four red shirt supporters in connection with the dumping rubbish in front of Malaysiakini's office in Petaling Jaya, after a rally yesterday.

According to The Star, Selangor criminal investigation department head Fadzil Ahmat said two men and two women were nabbed under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for "insulting behaviour".

He said the dumping rubbish in front of Malaysiakini's office, could be classified as "jeopardising public order".

They are released on police bail pending investigating, the daily reported.

About 700 red shirts were stopped by police from entering Malaysiakini's premises located off Jalan Tandang, over claims of enabling foreign intervention by receiving foreign funds.

The group led by Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos returned to dump bags of rubbish in front of the portal's office.

Jamal said this was to show they are responsible and cleaned up after the rally, which resulted in food packages and placards strewn on the roadside.

On Thursday, Jamal threatened to bring 20,000 to rally at the portal's office and damage the building.

He told Malaysiakini senior editors this during a meeting on Thursday, when he came to the portal's office flanked by about 100 red shirts, to demand an explanation over funding issues.

Malaysiakini editors informed him the identities of its funders and its funding structure were readily available on its website and through it audited annual accounts publicly available at the Companies Commission Malaysia.

On Saturday, Malaysiakini editor-in-chief Steven Gan stressed that it is "impossible" for anyone but the website's journalists to decide on editorial stance.

The portal lodged a police report on his threat to damage its premises.
