Parti Amanah Negara has pledged to mobilise 30,000 of its members and supporters to attend the Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumpur this Saturday.

Amanah secretary-general Mohd Anuar Tahir said the party have also assembled 55 lawyers, 50 medical officers, 30 reporters and 20 photographers to be on duty on the day.

"We would also like to announce that Amanah's Bersih 5 centre would be operating at our headquarters.

"The hotline number will be announced at a later date," Anuar told a press conference at Amanah's headquarters here.

Lawyer Wan Anwar Wan Ibrahim, who was also present, said that the team from Amanah's legal arm would offer their assistance to all Bersih 5 participants regardless of party affiliation.

"So we would like to remind authorities to give their cooperation and facilitate the rally," said Wan Anwar, who is vice-chief of Amanah's legal bureau.

'Blood for blood remark uncivilised'

Anuar, meanwhile, also hit out at Umno Sungai Besar division chief Jamal Md Yunos over the red-shirts leader reported "darah dibayar darah" (blood for blood) remarks against Bersih supporters after he was allegedly punched and scored a bloody nose on Sunday

Stressing that such remarks were uncivilised, Anuar said Jamal as a leader should set an example for his supporters and reject all forms of aggression or violence.

"That is a statement from someone who has absolutely no respect for peace.

"Blood in exchange for blood. What kind of person is he?," stressed Anuar.

During the scuffle at Ampang Point mall on Sunday, Jamal was heard repeatedly shouting "Polis tumbuk saya" (police punched me) but he later laid the blame on supporters of PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamarudin who were distributing Bersih 5 leaflets there.

He also said that he would avenge his own spilled blood by going against Bersih supporters.

Jamal yesterday denied he said the police hit him, claiming instead that he meant to tell them he was punched by a Bersih supporter.
