Umno deputy minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman lashed out at the media today when pressured over his row with Teresa Kok yesterday.

When met in the Parliament lobby, Tajuddin insisted he had only meant that the Seputeh MP was the only woman with the surname Kok.

He said those unhappy with deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee's ruling which sided with him can "go back and cry".

However when pointed out that his remarks in the House yesterday did not explicitly contain the word 'name', the Pasir Salak MP got agitated.

"You want to teach me to say something? I am referring to her that she has a surname Kok, do I need to say in detail?

"If you have a dirty mind, you think of something else. You want to defend her, I don't know what you had with her," Tajuddin told the media.

His exact quote in the House yesterday was: "The only woman with a Kok is in Seputeh".

The surname Kok sounds similar to a slang term for the male genitalia.

Tajuddin got even angrier when asked if he had any regrets over the issue.

"Why you want to challenge me whether I regret or not? What do I owe you to regret or not regret?" he said.

He then accused the media of keeping silent when the opposition said worse things about Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

'Sial' could cause big fights

Tajuddin also questioned why the media did not play up Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad calling him 'sial', a word which he said could cause big fights.

He then lashed out at an Indian reporter after explaining that he would be suing Khalid to seek an apology, and elaborated on why the word sial was offensive.

"Why are you smiling? You understand what is the meaning (of sial)? You don't, you're Indian isn't it? Don't play a fool," he said.

The reporter in question however later told Malaysiakini that he was only nodding upon hearing Tajuddin's remarks, and not smiling.

When asked about speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia's call for all opposition MPs to behave better, Tajuddin accused a reporter of being against BN.

"You tell the opposition to be cultured. Okay? Don't tell me to be cultured.

"You dare ask me because you are opposition. You don't vote for BN do you?

"Do you vote for BN? You don't. You can swear you vote for BN?" he demanded.

He then explained that he was angry because the media was highlighting the wrong issue, and not Khalid's sial remarks.

Tajuddin then wagged his finger at the media and said "jangan main-main" (don't play around) before entering the lift in the Parliament lobby.

Meanwhile, the All Women's Action Society (Awam) said it was appalled at Tajuddin's statement and found it unacceptable that Parliament had not taken action against him.

This was despite a 2012 amendment to the Parliament Standing Order which forbade the use of offensive and sexist language.

"We expect higher levels of discourse from our public officials, especially in public spaces.

"The comment from Tajuddin was completely out of line, and we call for a public apology from him to MP Teresa Kok," said Awam information communications officer Evelynne Gomez.

Meanwhile, social activist Hayati Kaprawi, who was previously attached with Sisters of Islam, said Tajuddin's statement reflected the low level of his mentality.

"He can't provide substance in the issues he debates and is only capable of using sewage-class dirty words," she said.

Hayati added that ultimately, it is incumbent on the Dewan Rakyat speaker to take action against such language.

"Parliament must be clean of insulting and discriminatory language against women," she said.

Tajuddin's statement was also condemned by the women's wing of Selangor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
