Dr Mahathir Mohamad will not be invited to the DAP national conference on Dec 4, said party organising secretary Anthony Loke.

He explained this is because Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is not part of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

"No...We only extended invitations to PKR and Parti Amanah Negara," he told reporters at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Loke said it is the party's tradition to limit their invitation to members of the federal opposition coalition.

Former premier Mahathir (photo) is the chairperson of Bersatu.

PKR chairperson Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, deputy president Azmin Ali, Amanah chairperson Mohamad Sabu and deputy chairperson Salahuddin Ayub will be among the guests.

Loke said the conference at the IDCC convention centre in Shah Alam will focus on DAP's 50th anniversary, 14th general election and other matters.

“We will hold special celebration for party veterans and they will be given special token of appreciation. We are also launching a special membership card for members and a photo exhibition on party history. All these will be part of the national conference," he added.

'Trouble came from Tajuddin'

Meanwhile, Loke condemned the attempted attack on Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad in Parliament by Umno deputy minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman's supporters.

He urged Umno to sack the troublemakers, including Tajuddin's son Firdaus, if they are party members.

“I am sure Tajuddin's son is a member of Umno Pasir Salak. Umno should sack him and the others.”

The Seremban MP also slammed Tajuddin's refusal to apologise for his "sexist remarks" in Parliament which led to the alleged riot yesterday.

“The whole trouble came from Tajuddin. He should be subjected to disciplinary action as well,” Loke said, adding that if Tajuddin had offered his apology, there would be no confrontation.

Khalid and Tajuddin became embroiled in an heated exchange in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

This was after the Umno MP insulted DAP lawmaker Teresa Kok over her name.

During the exchange, Khalid had called Tajuddin "sial" (damned), and repeated the remark outside the House when he explained his reasons for using the derogatory term during a press conference.

Tajuddin has threatened to sue the Shah Alam MP.
