Better to lose GE14 than to win with PAS?

YOURSAY | ‘Allying with PAS is like drinking poison to quench your thirst.’

Analysts: Harapan-Bersatu pact will still need PAS

Roar For Truth: PAS has the most interesting living arrangement. Imagine the typical double-storey link houses Malaysians live in.

PAS knocks down the walls to share a common hall area with its neighbours PKR and Bersatu, but upstairs PAS knocks down the wall in the bedroom and has a connecting door to a different neighbour, Umno.

Who is closest to PAS’ heart, the ones who share the hall or the bedroom?

Rick Teo: It appears these so-called analysts have very poor judgement. They are prepared to overlook the transgressions of PAS.

My take is very simple I would rather lose the next election without PAS than win with PAS. In such a case, I would even prefer to let the devil we know rule and govern rather than the wolf in sheep’s clothing we don’t know that is PAS.

Forget the support from the non-Malays if you have PAS on board because they have had enough of PAS’ ideology, in particular hudud.

Not Convinced: Should Umno-BN win again in GE14, the ringgit could easily plunge to RM6 or RM7 to the US dollar and the country may even go bankrupt.

Even if Pakatan takes power in GE16 or GE17, there will be nothing left to govern.

Sarawakian: PAS should not come aboard the Pakatan Harapan ship till the last possible moment, preferably just before nomination day.

If they come earlier, PM Najib Abdul Razak might not call elections at all since he will surely lose. PAS supporters would surely be mad if they side with BN.

Wong Fei Hoong: Why give so much prominence to PAS? The coalition has to do without PAS. Can we trust them to be with the coalition after the GE? They may become turncoats and cross over to BN.

Let the next election be the decider whether PAS lives or dies. The coalition should move on and fight another day. PAS has proven that they are not a trusted party.

Just a Malaysian: PAS was never a strong party except in Kelantan. They came close to being wiped out many times. Their fortune revived when Pakatan Rakyat was formed and many voted PAS in support of Pakatan Rakyat.

But the success allegedly swelled PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s head and he started to imagine being a key player in Malaysian politics. Pakatan Harapan will do better without PAS in the long term. The rakyat has to decide in GE14 what they want.

Prudent: I don't think PAS is needed. Both Umno and PAS have painted themselves into a hudud corner based on Hadi's version of the law.

The opposition should now chip away at both Umno’s and PAS’ power base among the Malays/Muslims who do not necessarily agree with hudud, especially Hadi's version of hudud.

The main issues in GE14 are still bread and butter, corruption and the consequences of Hadi's version of hudud. The powers-that-be are still relying on shenanigans to win.

Existential Turd: Allying with PAS is like drinking poison to quench your thirst. It may quench your thirst in the short run, but you will soon die from poisoning.

Harapan is so thirsty right now, they are hallucinating and are indiscriminate in the kind of poison they imbibe.

A political arrangement to defeat BN

Sarawakian: Sigh, former minister Zaid Ibrahim. Throughout the years I have followed Dr Mahathir Mohamad, I know he is an achiever, he will do what it takes to achieve the desired results. The arrangement between Bersatu/Pakatan Harapan must have taken place with his blessing.

Not every voter is like you with clarity of thought and a law degree. In the kampong, they still think not voting PAS is a sin that will condemn them to hell.

With gerrymandering, those kampung votes are very important, people like you or me have become irrelevant. Though many of us may curse Mahathir for his mistakes, if he cannot defeat Umno-BN, nobody else can.

Bersatu Malaysia: I will keep on repeating, you are making a huge mistake in wanting to include PAS. We must do away with religious parties.

They will impose on us their religious values, practices and laws. It cannot happen in a multi-religious country. Religion must be private and personal.

The Shooting Star: Even beating Umno-BN at GE14 and taking over Putrajaya, a coalition government with PAS’ participation will never be stable. It is just a matter of time before the religious political party will go bonkers.

Religion and politics are like water and oil, they do not mix. The sooner Bersatu learns it, the less stressful lives they will have.

Clever Voter: Zaid is sensible and logical but his ideas don’t go down well with local folk. He should help craft a winning manifesto which gives people what they want and more.

BN will find difficult to match, except to use religion and race to win votes.

Anwar hails Harapan-Bersatu tie-up

Trueglitter: Well-meaning observers are obviously encouraged and elated over the positive developments between Bersatu and Pakatan in agreement to consolidate their collective endeavours to form an electoral pact to ensure one-on-one contests in the coming general election.

However, the required consolidation of a united opposition coalition would not be fully effective or sufficiently reinforced without the inclusion of PAS, which is clearly seen to enjoy vast loyal Malay voters especially from Malay hinterland and rural areas.

Which is why Najib is unashamedly dangling more than a mere carrot before Hadi to solicit a political marriage of convenience to delay his own political demise in the GE14.

Like any spoilt maiden being courted by earnest suitors, PAS will invariably play the 'hard-to-get' game, but it will be worth all the efforts to rope PAS in under a consolidated opposition to trounce Umno-BN in the GE14.

The Analyser: This is the original PKR hoax all over again with the addition of Mahathir's toxicity. Amanah, nothing and Islamic. PKR, nothing and Islamic. DAP, Chinese nothing and Christianity, now with the addition of Bersatu's Islamic nothing, racism and greed.

N1: When you see the Taliban bigots reacted strongly, you know that you have pressed the right button.
