PKR has no qualms about allowing Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to contest in some of its seats in the next general election, its deputy president Mohd Azmin Ali said.

He recalled that DAP and PAS had done the same when PKR was formed.

Therefore, the Selangor menteri besar said, now is the time for PKR to do the same with regard to Bersatu, which was formed this year.

"When PKR was formed in 1999, we had no seats. We obtained seats from DAP and PAS. If we did not get the seats from them then, we would not be here today.

"So, I believe it is our turn now to be open and more responsible in discussions with our friends in Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu," he told reporters in Shah Alam.

Azmin also said discussions among the parties would take into account the winnability factor in the next general election.

The PKR leader said the opposition parties have their respective strengths in certain areas and constituencies.

"Bersatu, under the leadership of Muhyiddin Yassin, is perhaps strong in the south... Johor and Malacca.

"However, this concerns strategy, and we cannot discuss it in the open," Azmin added.

Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu have inked an electoral pact to ensure straight fights against BN in the next general election.

However, the problem for the coalition is PAS.
