Lim Guan Eng received a Valentine's Day "gift" from Penang Gerakan today but it was not out of the love for the chief minister.

The "gift" was a T-shirt bearing the words "I ♥ Penang, makes a lot of $" in Chinese and memorandum outlining 10 complaints.

Penang Gerakan vice-chairperson Oh Tong Keong said that if Lim truly loved Penang, he should wear the T-shirt.

"Don't focus on earning money while forgetting about problems faced by Penangites," said Oh, after the Gerakan delegation dropped off the goods at Komtar.

"We hope those sitting in the air-conditioned offices know that love is not just a slogan, one must do something if their love is sincere."

The memorandum outlines affordable housing issues and problems caused by land reclamation works, among others.

Oh was referring to the Penang government's "I love Penang" campaign, which was conceived after Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor proposed that Penang should be made a Federal Territory.

Lim launched the campaign to rally Penangites against the proposal and challenged Tengku Adnan to a televised debate.

The Gerakan delegation was received by Lim's information officer Zainul Zahar.
