Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (Yapeim) has said it had yet to receive a summons from Yayasan Pembangunan Anak Yatim/Miskin (Foundation for the Advancement of Orphans and the Poor, or Pemangkin) founding members, Mohd Yusoff A Bakar and Ahmad Fazli Hashim

Yapeim’s director-general Abibullah Samsudin in a statement last night said as of 7pm last night it has yet to receive the RM20 million suit which was filed yesterday.

“However, for the public information Pemangkin had on Nov 29, last year filed a derivative action against Yusoff and Ahmad Fazli, where an injunction has been obtained to freeze both their accounts in order to safeguard assets and interests held by Pemangkin.

“On Jan 23 this year, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has allowed for commital proceedings against Yusof and Ahmad Fazli for them to comply with the court order for a discovery of their assets and those of Pemangkin,” Abibullah said in the statement.

The Yapeim director-general said as they have yet to receive the writ of summons, we do not know the cause of action against us.

“We request that the writ is served to us immediately for us to clear our name in court. We also have full confidence with the country's judiciary system and trust that justice will be served,” Abibullah said.

Yesterday, it was reported that the duo, who are founding members of Pemangkin, filed the RM20 million suit in naming Yapeim, along with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom and six others, claiming mismanagement and a concerted effort to wind-up the foundation.
