The two Kelantan PKR members who took oaths of office to become district council members had done so on their own accord said state party chief Ab Aziz Ab Kadir.

"That wasn't an order from us (Kelantan PKR) or the party, they went on their own," Ab Aziz told Malaysiakini.

Last Tuesday, an officer from Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated (PMBK) uploaded a photo congratulating the two PKR members for being sworn in as Pasir Mas district council members.

Kelantan exco member Abdul Fattah Mahmod said the two had actually been appointed on May 3.

However, Abdul Fattah said several PKR members have yet to be sworn in following a request by party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (photo) for PKR's political appointees to resign from the PAS-led Kelantan state government.

Wan Azizah's request on May 16, followed a decision by PAS to sever ties with PKR.

Malaysiakini understands that no disciplinary action has been initiated against the Kelantan PKR political appointees who kept their jobs.

"If there is a complaint we will investigate, but so far no complaints have been lodged, not even from the state PKR," the party's disciplinary board chief Abdul Hadi Abdul Khatab told Malaysiakini.

Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob revealed earlier this month that none of the PKR political appointees had actually quit.

Likewise, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, had also decided to retain PAS in the Selangor government.
