Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali rebuked PKR's Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen for questioning the audit done on his parliamentary allocation.

Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, said all MPs receiving the allocation will be audited regardless of political affiliation.

"I hope as an MP he will understand this process and respect to ensure transparency. He must also raise the issue with the state government instead of telling it to the public," he told reporters after a Hari Raya Aidilfitri event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre today.

Wong (photo) on his Facebook account yesterday revealed a report on the audit of his office along with supporting documents after the state government froze allocations to his constituency.

He said he had written to the state government on the matter and said he would expose the matter to the public if he did not receive a response by Jun 30.

Yesterday, Wong made several postings on his social media account on the matter, including a frequently asked questions guide, a timeline of the audit process, the freeze on allocations meant for community spending, as well as copies of the audit report and his letter to the state.

He had on May 23 alleged that the audit on his office by the state treasury is unreasonable and that he was not consulted at any time.

Meanwhile, Azmin said the audit process will not be disrupted.

"I have reiterated that neither I nor the state will disrupt the audit process. We uphold the principles of transparency and openness.

"The audit department can audit anyone it likes without political interference or meddling from the executive. This process must be respected," he said.

The Gombak MP said he, too, had been audited by the state and did not make a big fuss about it.

"I did not make it an issue as anyone, be it MPs or assemblypersons, should view this process positively because it ensures transparency," said Azmin, who is also Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyperson.
