Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos today showed a video to convince delegates to choose him over incumbent Khairy Jamaluddin for the Umno Youth chief post.

The video screened at the Pandan Umno Youth annual general meeting showed the riches he has managed to amass to date.

It tells the story of how Jamal worked his way from being an employee to opening an import firm, followed by an imported used car dealership.

It also delved into his other business ventures - selling burgers in Bandar Baru Sentul and the now defunct chain of restaurants, Restoran Sekinchan Ikan Bakar.

"I have my qualifications. You can see it in the video just now.

"When it comes to qualifications, education and ability, we all have our advantages," he told reporters after officiating at the meeting in Ampang.

Last Friday, he was asked how his academic qualification compares to Oxford University graduate Khairy but he told the media to wait for today to know the answer.

"Anyone can contest for the post but the more important thing is his intention for contesting.

"I have proven that I am not after positions because if I was, I would have become the candidate in the Sungai Besar by-election and would now be called Yang Berhormat," he said, referring to the honorifics bestowed on elected representatives.

Jamal announced his intention to challenge Khairy in his speech while officiating at the Sungai Besar Umno Youth general meeting earlier.

Asked how he plans to lead the movement, he said it all depends on the outcome of the 14th general election.

"It is too early for me to detail out everything that I want to do.

"I believe how one leads the Youth wing will depend on the election results and whatever the intentions, suggestions or hopes we have may change with the results," he said.

He said he will campaign for the Umno Youth top post in earnest after he successfully assists BN in winning Selangor in the general election.

"God willing, the election will take place in the next six or seven months and only after that will I move my machinery to ensure my goal of being the Umno Youth chief is met.

"For the time being, I am focused on ensuring BN wins in my area and to assist (Selangor Umno chief) Noh Omar wrest Selangor from Pakatan Harapan," he said.
