Pakatan Harapan will have to keep waiting for a response to its application to be formally registered as a coalition of political parties.
Registrar of Societies (ROS) director-general Surayati Ibrahim said she had "no update" on the matter when met at a press conference in Putrajaya today.
Asked why it was taking so long for the ROS to decide on Harapan's application, Surayati replied: "No comment."
As to whether ROS would recognise DAP’s second re-election results, Surayati just said: “We did not receive any report from DAP.”
Harapan submitted its application for registration to the ROS on July 24 but has yet to receive a response till now.
The coalition, which comprises Bersatu, Amanah, DAP and PKR, also submitted a new logo upon the request of the ROS.
In a written reply to Parliament, the Home Ministry said the ROS must carry out a detailed check on the applications received to safeguard security and public interest.
Harapan legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo said on Oct 30 that the coalition was mulling taking the ROS to court over the matter.
Apart from not receiving any word regarding its application, Gobind said, the ROS has also not responded to Harapan's letter, dated Aug 21, seeking a meeting to discuss its application.
