Karpal's children differ on Dr M

The children of late DAP chairperson Karpal Singh disagreed over Dr Mahathir Mohamad's nomination as Pakatan Harapan’s prime ministerial candidate, with Gobind Singh and Sangeet Kaur Deo said to have raised differing opinions at a party retreat.

Sangeet told Malaysiakini that her father would not have agreed to Mahathir as the prime ministerial candidate.

Former Bar Council chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan proposed a debate between BN and Harapan’s candidates for the post of prime minister.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said while the party accepted differences of views, those objecting to Mahathir's nomination were in the minority.

Harapan's seat divide

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said Harapan's seat allocation formula was to ensure its prime ministerial candidate would not become too powerful if the coalition were to win in the coming general election.

PKR’s Lumut MP Mohamad Imran Abd Hamid and Tumpat MP Kamaruddin Jaafar said they would comply with Harapan’s decision to give their seats to Amanah and Bersatu respectively.

Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali claimed PKR is the biggest winner in Harapan’s seat allocation despite Bersatu being allocated more seats, as the latter’s were harder to win.

PAS may relocate its information chief Nasrudin Hassan to a safer constituency as the party may lose its the seat after taking a divergent path from Harapan.

MACC raids over tunnel project

MACC carried out multiple raids in Penang in response to reports alleging graft in the state's undersea tunnel megaproject.

Petaling Jaya MP Tony Pua questioned if there was an attempt to cover up the Finance Ministry's payment to Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) as part of a settlement with 1MDB.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's attempt to strike out a suit against him and 1MDB over the IPIC settlement was dismissed by the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
