Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was not involved in the transfer of land ownership from Felda to Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd, Felda chairperson Shahrir Samad said today.

Speaking to Malaysiakini after a press conference to announce the transfer of the land back to Felda, Shahrir questioned why the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) would initiate a forensic audit to probe the matter if Najib was in the know.

"If Felda did not know, how would the PMO know? No one knew, be it Felda, or its board of directors - after the transfer of ownership was done, even the Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) was not informed.

"If the PM knew, why would he ask (Felda) to investigate and lodge a police report. The actions were initiated by the PM, he was the one who ordered (Felda) to take actions (against the transaction)."

Shahrir was responding to questions raised by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli that urged Shahrir to answer whether Najib was involved in the scandal, since Felda comes under PMO.

He added that the probe into the matter was ongoing and stressed that action would be taken, without fear or favour, against anyone found to have played a role.

"Action will be taken, no matter who he is. There will not be compromises in wrongdoing. The prime minister himself had remarked that there will be no compromise in the matter," Shahrir said.

Earlier today, Shahrir announced that Felda had regained its land along Jalan Semarak in Kuala Lumpur, allegedly transferred to Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB), in a "dubious deal" in 2015.

The agreement between SPSB and Felda to surrender the land back to the latter was signed at 1pm today, according to Shahrir.
