Selangor Pakatan Harapan should place their full trust in Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali if they want to retain the state in the upcoming 14th general elections (GE14), said former senator Ezam Mohd Noor.

Describing Azmin as a stellar leader, Ezam said the PKR deputy president had also accumulated vast experiences leading the party's machinery during troubled times.

"Do not doubt his (Azmin's) capabilities, unless there are (some) among his friends who do not wish to see victory in Selangor out of jealousy or envy towards the stellar achievement of Azmin and his team.

"They want to see the downfall of Selangor and Azmin. They are traitors wearing the masks of fighters," claimed Ezam who has quit Umno twice, PKR once and NewGen Party once.

He further warned such individuals to stop their "traitorous acts" before they are faced with an uprising from people in Selangor.

"Selangor is a prosperous state that will not allow any personal vengeance from impeding its success.

"Therefore do not attempt to disturb Azmin or Selangor through devious and damaging political tactics," he stressed in a statement today.

While he did not mention any names, Ezam questioned why certain individuals were only attacking Azmin (photo) now.

"Strange that now when the party has gained power, there are people who are out to question Azmin's capabilities.

"Almost all of them who are making noise now were not around during the troubled times. In fact, some of them were with the opposing camp and were in power. Either they did not realise this fact or they are pretending to be ignorant," he said.

The anti-corruption NGO Hisbah Malaysia chairperson earlier noted that it was common for a successful leader to court jealousy or envy from his enemies and friends.

In this case, Ezam said Azmin's leadership of the Harapan state government was one which had come under attack due to his successes.

According to Ezam, among Azmin's other successes include improving PKR's performance during his tenure as the party's election director.

Azmin and PKR in Selangor have been under pressure from their allies in Harapan after formal seat negotiations in the state were stalled due to PKR's differing views on the mechanism for such talks.

Harapan's central leadership has stepped in and expects to finalise the seat allocation talks soon.
