Selangor Bersatu has declined to recognise the outcome of the ongoing Selangor Pakatan Harapan seat negotiations, which settled 35 of the 56 state seats yesterday.

The twist occurred as the Selangor Harapan seat negotiation committee met again today to discuss the remaining 21 seats with overlapping claims from parties in the coalition.

After the one hour meeting, Selangor Bersatu information chief Sallehudin Amiruddin took media by surprise by announcing that the party does not recognise the decision arrived at by Selangor Harapan yesterday.

Selangor Bersatu had previously stated its intention to contest in all 12 seats in the state currently being held by Umno, which was affirmed at a party election committee meeting earlier today.

As such, Sallehudin was unhappy that Selangor PKR also expressed interest in the same 12 state seats.

"We will not concede even one seat (to PKR)," he pledged.

According to him, Selangor Harapan has yet to make a decision following Bersatu's latest proposal to contest the 12 Umno-held seats.

Bersatu was set up to replace Umno, he said, thus the party wanted to face Umno in these state seats in the coming polls.

Sallehudin also noted the party did not take part in the meeting after submitting the proposal to Selangor Harapan.

"We did not want to discuss it then," he said, adding the atmosphere during the meeting was good.

In particular, the party disagrees with being offered the Jeram and Sijangkang seats yesterday, which are held by Umno's Amiruddin Setro and PAS' Ahmad Yunus Hairi respectively.

"We now have zero state seats," Sallehudin said, referring to the possibility of having to concede the Umno seat to PKR, and the PAS seat to Amanah.

However, Selangor Harapan secretary Zuraida Kamaruddin, gave the media a different version of events.

"We were able to settle yet another one seat. We have settled 36 seats now. So, we have another 20 (disputed) seats to go," she said.

When asked of the coalition's slow progress, the Ampang MP said it was making speedy progress.

"This is very fast progress. Sometimes the national level can't make any progress," she said.

When asked about Bersatu's decision on the two state seats, she told the media to refer the question to Bersatu.

Selangor DAP did not participate in today's meeting.

Yesterday, Selangor Harapan resolved that the status quo would be maintained for seats already held by DAP (14 seats), PKR (13) and Amanah (2).

It also settled four disputed seats that were contested or won by PAS and Umno in the last general election.

Also present was Selangor Amanah deputy chief Saari Sungib and Selangor Bersatu chief Sukiman Sarmani.
