The nine Selangor PAS state assemblypersons are claimed to have forked out close to RM700,000 of their own money for various programmes in the last two months after being allegedly denied allocations by the state government.

Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehin Mukhyi (above) said the move by Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali to deny them their allocations went against his own promise to uphold the people's welfare.

"As of now, we have not received any allocations although we were informed that it has been distributed to other assembypersons (from other Harapan parties)

"Nevertheless our reps have continued to carry out their duties using their own personal funds. So programmes are ongoing and in fact, the number has increased," the Sabak assemblyperson told a press conference in Shah Alam today.

Sallehin said he had known Azmin (below) since 1999 and it was not the latter’s nature to go against principles of justice which were the mainstay of PKR's struggle.

"So in this case, we now wonder what happened to those cries of justice for all?" he asked.

PAS currently has 13 assemblypersons in Selangor and Sallehin revealed that nine of them have collectively spent RM693,000 in the last two months for various programmes in their constituencies.

From the figure, Sallehin further revealed that the top three spenders were Chempaka assemblyperson Iskandar Abdul Samad who spent RM197,000 followed by Gombak Setia assemblyperson Hasbullah Mohd Ridzuan (RM130,000) and Selat Kelang assemblyperson Halimah Ali (RM100,000).

"I myself personally had to spend RM40,000 of my own money," said Sallehin.

Sallehin also reminded Azmin that all 13 PAS assemblypersons collectively represented close to 500,000 Selangorians and the lack of allocations was a denial of their rights.

He said the PAS assemblypersons will not be formally appealing to Azmin for their allocations to be reinstated as it not the practice to do so.

"We were verbally informed that we should write an appeal letter and so we are also responding (today) verbally to seek Azmin's clarification on the matter," he said.

"The state budget has been passed. It is not the practice to write a letter and then only get our allocations," he said.

The issue first came to light earlier last month and Sallehin at the time said Selangor PAS was considering meeting the sultan over the matter.
