MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon has rebutted Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz's insistence that tycoon Robert Kuok does not represent the Chinese community.

Chong had previously said the attack against Kuok was an insult to the Chinese community, an argument that Nazri subsequently rubbished.

"It is not for him to say that his attacks on Kuok do not hurt the feelings of the Chinese community.

"We are Chinese, we would know best," Chong told journalists in Cyberjaya this morning.

Nazri (photo) had launched a scathing attack on Chong and MCA, after the youth leader demanded that the tourism and culture minister apologises for his comments against Kuok.

Nazri had, among others, said that DAP, and not MCA, represented the Chinese community.

Chong noted that Nazri had repeatedly made such attacks against MCA over the years.

"This is not the first time he has made such a claim. It is not up to him to determine who we represent," Chong said.

Nazri had earlier called the Hong Kong-based Kuok a "pondan" and challenged him to relinquish his Malaysian citizenship, after blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin claimed the billionaire was funding the DAP.

Kuok denied the claim and said he reserved the right to sue Raja Petra.

Following the explanation, Nazri said he was glad about the clarification, but nevertheless would not apologise for his comments.
