PARLIAMENT | Former judge and BN's Setiu MP Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh told Amanah MP Hanipa Maidin at the Dewan Rakyat last night to "die quickly", after the latter expressed willingness to die in the fight against BN.

A war of words had earlier erupted among Hanipa (Sepang), Che Mohamad, Kota Tinggi MP Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid and Papar MP Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, after Hanipa spoke about the seizure of luxury yacht Equanimity and the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department(CID) director whose bank account containing close to RM1 million was frozen by Australian authorities.

Yesterday's parliamentary session was supposed to end at 8.30pm, but as the minutes ticked by, Deputy Speaker Ismail Mohamed Said said Hanipa had several more minutes to continue with his speech.

Ismail said he could have disallowed Hanipa from continuing to speak as many provisions of the Parliamentary Standing Orders were allegedly breached during the heated exchange, but wanted Noor Ehsanuddin and Hanipa to take lessons from the standing orders.

"I am positively assuming that Sepang and Kota Tinggi are good friends.

"But you must be careful that it does not go to the extent that you sever the veins in your head and neck. It's not good for our health," Ismail told Hanipa.

In April 2016, Hanipa lost consciousness after he was involved in a heated debate in Parliament. Hanipa underwent surgery after suffering from brain haemorrhage.

Responding to Ismail, the Amanah lawmaker said he does not have any qualms to speak further on the issues he had raised, even if he was sick.

"Because I think I should talk about it. I don't have any problems, if I'm sick, even if I die, I would be contented because I am speaking against BN.

"When the malaikat (angel) asks me why I died, I can say I died fighting against BN. I would feel relieved.

"Because BN is jahat (evil), (they are) crooks."

To this, Che Mohamad responded, "Dying because you fought against BN?

"My God, you're willing to do so? Good, thank you. God willing, die quickly."

'No fear of death'

Hanipa, however, replied he had no problem with this.

"It's fine, no problem. We're not afraid of death, we are afraid of what would happen after death," said Hanipa, quoting a hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad) on the matter.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim then responded with a hadith on the importance of concealing the shame of others, so that one's own shame would be concealed by Allah in the hereafter.

While Hanipa agreed with the hadith, he countered Shahidan that the issues he had raised were of public interest.

"Like the issue of the CID chief. Everyone is talking about it. The hadith is not like how you understand it to mean.

"I studied religion, too. I have a degree in syariah.

"I'm not saying I'm an ustaz (religious teacher), but you do not simply quote the hadith," Hanipa told Shahidan.
