Swiss motion on '1MDB funds' repatriation defeated

The Swiss Parliament voted against a motion for the restitution of CHF104 million (RM430 million) allegedly linked to 1MDB after debating on the matter.

The motion was rejected as it was " too general" and there were issues with separation of power, a Swiss lawmaker told Malaysiakini.

Three DAP lawmakers who were threatened with stern action for contempt of Parliament by speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia refused to apologise to the speaker and want him to answer two-more 1MDB-related questions instead.

Special adviser to the government Rais Yatim questioned the "love" shown by certain quarters for businessperson Low Taek Jho (Jho Low), after Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz criticised him for raising concerns about Low and 1MDB.

Earlier, the Special Affairs Department's (Jasa) advisory panel member Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said Rais should resign from his position, which carries a ministerial rank, if he does not voice out grievances against the government through "proper channels".

TMJ quits FAM

Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has quit as the president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), 10 days short of his first anniversary in the stint, citing poor performance by the national team.

Earlier, Tunku Ismail and his father, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar said they have forgiven Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz for linking the palace to politics, in 2015, after the minister paid them a call recently.
