Police have identified 1,131 GE14 'troublemakers', says IGP

GE14 | The police have identified 1,131 ‘potential troublemakers’ nationwide with the potential to create chaos during the 14th general election, according to inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

Out of 171 locations in the country which had been identified as ‘hotspots’ for GE14, he said 31 were in Terengganu.

“All of them are now under police surveillance. We do not want to incite fear or threaten anyone but we want to ensure that those with the potential to create chaos will not cause problems during the electoral process,” he added.

Fuzi was speaking to reporters after the appreciation ceremony with caretaker Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, in conjunction with the 211th Police Day celebration in Kuala Terengganu today.

Also present was Terengganu police chief Aidi Ismail.

Fuzi said 25 percent of 3,500 police personnel in the state would be deployed to ensure the smooth running of GE14.

“We have prepared two teams each from the Federal Reserve Unit and Public Order Riot Unit to ensure public safety during the election,” he added.
