PAS' Ketereh candidate Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh today saw an arrest warrant issued against him by the Kota Bharu Syariah lower court.
This was over his alleged failure to pay RM78,000 in child support (nafkah) for his two children since 2011, according to Berita Harian.
The decision was delivered by Syariah Court judge Rosmah Mohd Zain.
His ex-wife, Siti Aishah Chou Abdullah, who in her 30s, had sued Wan Ismail for expenses from July 2011 to Dec 2017 for their children, aged 12 and 13.
The report said Wan Ismail's non-payment was despite a Syariah Court ruling instructing him to pay RM1,000 a month for the children.
"Previously, the court had already ordered that if he fails to pay the outstanding child support amount within a week of Feb 27, he would be jailed for a month," the judge was quoted as saying.
