GE14 | Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming has apologised for using crude language in his ceramah.

This was after a video of his ceramah last night about Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad "postponing" his mahjong game in heaven with the late former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew was circulated on social media.

"I am a popular speaker in the Chinese community due to my ability to speak in Mandarin, Cantonese and other (Chinese dialects).

"I admit the language I use in Mandarin can be blunt (keras) and sarcastic, but the Chinese community can accept the way I speak.

"I humbly apologise for my tone and language if it is seen as blunt. I will try to take a softer approach in future ceramah," he said.

In the ceramah yesterday, Nga, who is also DAP's Teluk Intan candidate, said Mahathir was postponing the ‘afterlife game’ as he had an important task to settle, which was to unseat BN and Najib Abdul Razak.

Nga then broke into song, singing "Goodbye my love, farewell my lover," stating this could be the case after Mahathir completes his task.

When the audience reacted with laughter, he quipped: “Wah, I say goodbye, you are so happy, cannot like that.”

“You all have to ask Mahathir to not go now, we want to ask Mahathir to live for a long time,” he added in Cantonese.

However, the video was uploaded on Facebook with inaccurate captioning in the Malay language, including the claim that Nga said Mahathir could "mampus" (die) after he completed his task, even though it was a reference to BN.

"I regret that the situation was twisted by BN supporters and video clips of my speeches are edited, spliced and recombined to show as if I uttered words to make Malays unhappy.

"This is untrue and a dangerous slander," he said.

Nga further stressed the context of his speech was important.

"I urge voters to understand that the contexts of Mahathir's era as prime minister and the context of Mahathir as Harapan leader are different.

"I once again apologise for my blunt language and to anyone who was offended," he said.
