Earlier, the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) had urged the government to do away with the practice of appointing individuals to GLCs and GLICs “by convention” to ensure corruption and mismanagement did not happen.

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak, in a Facebook post, accused the government of focusing on Khazanah's RM80 million loss in an online lingerie business while 'forgetting' the RM6 billion profit it made from doing business with Alibaba.

Meanwhile, The Edge Financial Daily reported that Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer Shahril Ridza Ridzuan was among those touted to take over as the managing director of Khazanah.

A report said that the Ministry of Finance may reorganise a number of funds which were set up to explore new businesses due to their poor performance.

Anwar rubbishes audio slamming Mahathir

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim denied being the voice behind audio recordings in which party deputy president Azmin Ali is called a “barua” (lackey) of Mahathir, saying he does not utter such rude words.

Earlier, PKR leaders also dismissed the audio clips as fake.

When asked about the matter, Mahathir stressed that he does not interfere in PKR's affairs.

Azmin also dismissed claims of factions inside PKR, and blamed Umno for spreading such rumours.

Meanwhile, after spending 27 days in jail, Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Mohd Yunos called for prison reforms, and praised Anwar for surviving 13 years behind bars.
