Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi turned up at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court this morning to provide moral support for former premier Najib Abdul Razak, who was slapped with an additional six charges.
He later tweeted a photograph of the two of them seated together and stated that the “relentless attack” against the pair would not break their spirit.
“We will remain steadfast in the struggle,” he added.
Zahid also termed the slew of charges against Najib and him as an “overkill” which works in their favour.
“This overkill leads to a trust deficit in the government. It greatly benefits the accused. Thank-you for dragging us (to court),” he added.
Sokongan moral utk DS Najib pagi ini. Tekanan bertubi2 kpd kami berdua tidak mematah semangat terus istiqamah dlm perjuangan. Tindakan 'over killed' yg dilakukan menimbulkan defisit keyakinan kpd pemerintah. Ianya amat untungkan yg tertuduh. Terima kasih kerana mengheret kami. pic.twitter.com/eMWI6J7mUS

Last week, Zahid was charged with 45 counts of money laundering, criminal breach of trust and receiving gratification.
The former deputy premier, who claimed trial to the charges, was released on RM2 million.
Najib, on the other hand, is facing a total of 38 charges.
Today's charges involved committing criminal breach of trust in relation to RM6.63 billion in government funds.
Previously, Najib's former special officer Isham Jalil said more Umno leaders are expected to be hauled to court.
In an article posted on Umno Online, he had described this as the second “Ops Lalang” crackdown under Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
