PKR POLLS | Ahead of the third phase of the PKR polls in Selangor on Sunday, deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli has called on the party's election committee to implement immediate improvements to the e-voting system.

"As the Pandan division will vote this Sunday, and it is expected to be a hot division, I take this opportunity to suggest a few improvements which can be done immediately," Rafizi said in a letter addressed to the election and appeals committees.

The first suggestion is to bar the issuance of QR codes for voters if the voter is not physically present.

The second is to only allow those with QR codes printed on the same day to vote.

The QR codes are issued by PKR election officers, which voters will the scan at tablets to gain access to the e-voting system.

Rafizi claimed that there were instances where an individual carrying the MyKads of others was able to get multiple QR codes, enabling them to vote multiple times.

Similarly, he said, he has evidence of QR codes being issued in advance, which again allowed some to vote more than once.

His letter included a photo of a QR code for the Pandan division polls which was printed on Wednesday, four days ahead of time.

Rafizi's third proposal to improve the party election system is for the election committee to publicise the list of election officers prior to polling day, to avoid "biased" officers being stationed at rival divisions.

Rafizi is currently trailing by 1,261 votes against rival and incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali.

Azmin widened his lead after securing 4,978 votes to Rafizi's 4,385 votes in phase two of voting in Selangor last week.
