Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu is one of two recipients of the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP) award which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’ in conjunction with the 62nd birthday of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.

Besides Ahmad Faizal, who is also Perak Pakatan Harapan chairman, the other recipient of the SPMP is Universiti Malaya pro-chancellor Aishah Ong.

Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin said the investiture would be held in two sessions with the first on Sunday and the other on Nov 10.

Mohd Zahidi said both the ceremonies would be held at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar, and that Sultan Nazrin Shah would present awards to a total of 285 recipients.

Meanwhile, 14 individuals will receive the Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’ including Sultan Idris Education University vice-chancellor Mohammad Shatar Sabran and Foreign Ministry deputy secretary-general Raja Nurshirwan Zainal Abidin.

There are two recipients of the Darjah Dato 'Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS) award which carries the ‘Datuk’ title. They are Defence Ministry Engineering Services Division director-general Chapiti Redzwan and Royal Malaysia Police College Administration and Research Division head Sum Chang Keong.

In addition, six recipients will receive the Darjah Paduka Cura Simanja Kini (PCM), 23 the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP), 15 the Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini (ACM) while 65 individuals will be conferred the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP).

A total of 72 recipients have been awarded the Pekerti Pekerti Terpilih (PPT), 82 will be conferred the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) and four will receive the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan (PLP).

Mohd Zahidi added that all those conferred awards and medals in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin Shah’s birthday this year are individuals who have served the nation and the state well including in the professional and sports fields.

He said the celebration would for the first time see a 10-minute fireworks display since Sultan Nazrin Shah was crowned as the Perak Sultan in 2015 .

The fireworks display will be held at the Istana Iskandariah grounds on Saturday from 7.50pm to 8pm.

In addition, the people have been urged to join in the birthday celebrations by flying the state flag at their offices, business premises and their homes.

To add to the festive air, businesses and offices have also been urged to ‘light up’ their premises by keeping the lights switched on until midnight on Nov 2 and Nov 3.
