Najib sees friendly fire; misconduct claims mar final leg of PKR polls

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Najib sees friendly fire

Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia attacked former party president Najib Abdul Razak, accusing him of lying about the multi-billion ringgit deposits in his personal bank account and causing BN's defeat in the 14th general election.

Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said party activist Lokman Noor Adam had the "IQ of a carrot" for attacking him after he criticised Najib's refusal to acknowledge the role of 1MDB scandal in BN's defeat.

Najib said he had never denied 1MDB's role in BN's defeat, claiming that it was the lies about 1MDB "fabricated" by his opponents that caused the coalition to lose power.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed launched a new home financing method through peer-to-peer funding.

However, the prime minister expressed scepticism over the scheme, putting pressure on Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and businessperson Tong Kooi Ong to pull it off.

Tong expressed confidence that the new scheme would work.
