Prime Minister and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad vowed that his party will not allow his party to be taken over by defectors from Umno.

Mahathir also said he "advised" Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to dissolve Umno because the party was no longer faithful to its original mission.
