Yoursay: Hard to move on until 1MDB culprits are behind bars

YOURSAY | ‘We need to put away those who have committed financial crimes against the state.’

1MDB thievery already stopped, now help rakyat - Rafizi to gov't

BlessMalaysia: 1MDB scandal is of global scale and has brought much shame and disgrace to Malaysia and Malaysians.

Those involved overseas are being punished one after another. Yet, in Malaysia, where it all started and where the country lost billions and yet not a single soul has been punished.

Until those who stole, those who covered up the crime and those who benefited from the crime are all punished, only then we can move on. There should have been a mega task force formed to go to the root of 1MDB and not some “paper” task force for show.

One wonders how serious is Pakatan Harapan in pursuing these mega corruption cases or will this be used only for political arm twisting?

Wg321: The 1MDB thievery is not over until former premier Najib Abdul Razak and fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho go to jail; and also, when the “cowgirl” returns the RM250 million to the government.

Retnam: No Rafizi Ramli, you are wrong. Until Najib is put in jail for tens of years, Harapan should not relent on the pursuit to catch all the 1MDB assets.

As for the economy, you don't have to worry. Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng will make sure the economy will recover. Just give him time.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Najib is social media savvy. While the 1MDB and other scandals are slowly being forgotten, Najib is making himself popular again. He knows how to win the simple folk in rural areas and is becoming a force to reckon with.

And Harapan is slowly becoming irrelevant as they lack media experts and skills to put forward their plans and strategies.

Even Rafizi seems to be in the dark as the development plans of the ruling coalition. Do something please before you lose in GE15.

Emile Lahoud: Yes, Najib is already in the bag. To be honest, I don't care if he gets convicted on all counts. Just five to ten years behind bars is plenty for him. Let him ‘rempit’ on Facebook and Twitter all he wants for now.

Anonymous_1536078333: Rafizi, what you are saying is right, we need to move also on creating opportunities for the B40 (bottom 40 percent).

ChuenTick: You are spot on, Rafizi. It is time the Harapan government implements policies and takes action that improves the wellbeing of the rakyat, especially the underprivileged.

Simple Truth: While it is right to help the people get a better life, one thing we need to do is to put away those who have committed financial crimes against the state without pity.

We need to ensure that they are totally and completely annihilated from ever ruling again. Obviously Najib is trying to make a comeback. Malaysians must never allow the likes of him to return to their former national thievery.

Also parties like PAS must be eradicated so they will never again support the kleptocracy which has shut their mouths with millions of ringgit.

Vgeorgemy: Harapan shouldn't follow Umno’s Mara Digital Kuala Lumpur business model for the young entrepreneurs. In this model, the young ones become the ‘jaga pintu’ for the crony companies.

Harapan must study the business model adopted by the foreigners with no capital and management skills managing the small provision stores and pasar malam stalls.

It is the cooperation between traders who sourced the goods from low-cost manufacturing centres and the entrepreneurs. We must have such participation to earn a decent sum of monies.

Anonymous 2319461440035118: Rafizi, if the small and medium enterprises have vacancies, why can't the youth go direct to seek employment? Why must this be the priority of the government?

Is this the way to develop the Malay youth? You want them to depend on the government?

This is how and why the Malays cannot be competitive. They should go to look for the job themselves and develop self-independence as a way to succeed.

Dingy: Rafizi is advising the government because without him in the cabinet, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s cabinet wouldn’t know how to run the country.

Indirectly, he is criticising Guan Eng on how the money should be spent. Rafizi wanted to be finance minister so badly that he has to criticise the current finance minister and teach him on how to manage the country's money.

Many people have lost respect for Rafizi. He should mind his own business.

Constitutional Supremacy: Rafizi now reprimanding the government to help rakyat.

From day one, Harapan has been working towards helping rakyat in addition to carrying out institutional reforms including putting country's finances right. What is the necessity of issuing such a statement which is too general and has no value?

Rafizi is not even an elected representative but is behaving like a higher supervisory authority to the cabinet. Somebody close to him must tell him that nowadays, he is making a fool of himself.

Anonymous: So who is running the economy? Who is the policymaker now? Where are the fiscal and monetary directions? Anybody knows?

Clever voter: Confidence level among investors is mixed. Creating employment is not their priority. Rather it's about whether their returns are sustainable and the government policies are consistent.

Economy goes up and down. We should be mindful we are not sheltered from global events. The previous administration had overdone its duty by absorbing surplus labour with little regard to their relevance and employability.

We have already a bloated public servicea, and thousands graduates face longer job search. Real answers rest with real growth that creates wealth and prosperity that will ultimately lead to higher employment.

We talk a lot about new economy but many are stuck in the old mindset of treating labour cheaply. Many are displaced by foreign labour often cheaper option.

There is no simple solution. The answer is to have the government facilitate the process of allowing pay to rise, productivity gains to be rewarded and less bureaucracy to lessen cost of compliance.

Shovelnose: I agree. Get on with job to encourage and create job opportunities. Don't forget how to sustain the winning after the win.
