Yoursay: Najib not charged because he’s a critic, but vice versa

YOURSAY | ‘Nooryana, please stop telling us to rally behind your father.’

Stand by ‘govt’s strongest critic’ - Najib's daughter makes public plea

TCM: I do stand by the government's strongest critic, Nooryana Najib – and that is the people of Malaysia, not your father.

Anonymous 1689721435778173: Let the law take its course. Nooryana, your father Najib Abdul Razak is not being charged because he is the chief critic of the government. He is the chief critic of the government because he is being charged for all his misdeeds when he was the government. Don't twist facts.

Najib may be thinking of his family, friends and supporters but the people? No way. He wasn’t bothered when he was the prime minister if the country became bankrupt, so long as he got to keep his loot. He has singlehandedly destroyed Umno by corrupting all its top leaders.

Be Happy: Nooryana, please stop telling us to rally behind your father. He is a former prime minister, he should know what is expected of him.

Where were you when your father was in power? You did not need us. Because we were peanuts to you. Your father did so much for you, including giving you such a lavish wedding, which none of us could even dream of.

And please stop this nonsense about your father being a critic. The government deserves patience, understanding and support from everyone. They may make mistakes now and then as they are new.

Please go support your father, and don't tell us what we should do. I only support the government of the day. And we are proud of what they have done so far. We will pray hard they succeed.

Newday: There will be no need for technicalities, as this government practices the rule of law as opposed to what Umno-BN practised while Nooryana’s father was in power.

So, I strongly suggest she looks long and hard at the charges, and do all sorts of reading. The US Department of Justice report is a good place to start, which she can follow up with the now- declassified auditor-general’s report into 1MDB, to be reminded of the depths her father sunk down to.

Look at how he sacked ministers from within his own party that questioned 1MDB, look at how the Retirement Fund (KWAP) lost RM4 billion thanks to her father’s shenanigans, without a sen paid back.

I am not questioning his parenting skills. He may be a great father to Nooryana, but when it comes to the billions of ringgit missing all under his watch, can’t she see for herself that there may just be some substance to the current charges?

This is not something invented by the current government, as many others outside of Malaysia have already been prosecuted in this matter. Only a judge can decide based on the evidence presented.

Is Nooryana suggesting that the judge alone will find technicalities? There is a massive evidence trail, so she had better prepare herself for more than just one charge to stick.

By my reading of SRC International debacle, he is guilty of all charges. Who am I to say so?

Just another member of the public that is truly disgusted with how your father and his cohorts stole lots of money for their own gratification. Your father could not contain his greed and your mother could not contain her desire for a queen’s ransom in jewellery.

JD Lovrenciear: Najib’s daughter forgets that an entire nation is suffering. But she wants us to stand by the one person who could have stopped the heist and put a stop to this, but did not.

Anonymous 8247274088438772: What has Najib done for us, besides give us the label of a kleptocracy? And to think that Nooryana is now asking for Malaysians to support him, when the entire Najib family was too afraid to show the people any photos of the lavish wedding.

What about the hundreds of handbags, thousands of pieces of jewellery, millions of hard cash in various currencies and luxury watches found in your family homes? I’m sure all these valuables are not from your family members’ salaries or personal businesses.

So, you expect our sympathy? You are lucky that we still try to maintain our decency to your family.

HangTuahPJ: Does Nooryana think her father amassed his wealth from his prime minister’s salary?

Anonymous_1371463676: Wonder why Najib’s defence team requested a stay on his trial, which was granted by the Court of Appeal. The sooner he is on trial, the sooner he can clear his name. He is truly blessed that he is being tried in the era of ‘New Malaysia.’ May the truth be revealed.

Anonymous_c126c50b: Nooryana, your feeling is understood at the current moment. You have to have faith in the current judicial system. If your dad did not do anything wrong, there is nothing to fear. But deep in your heart, like all Malaysians, you may also have the answer.

Hmmmmmmmm: In your heart of hearts, I am sure you know what actually happened. Surely you can't be that delusional. Surely, the overwhelming majority here and various authorities abroad cannot be wrong.

Wira: If your father is truly innocent, he will be freed. Otherwise, regardless of whether he is a critic extraordinaire, he should pay for his misdeeds. Remember, all Malaysians were disgraced by him. The 14th general election on May 9, 2018, restored our pride.

Clever Voter: Nooryana is lucky she and her father are in a democracy that remains faithful to the rule of law. Had this been other countries within the region, her father would not have the chance to shake hands with adoring crowds, let alone tell more lies to the public.

Malaysian Malaysian: How many thoughts and prayers did Najib’s family send out when artist Bilqis Hijjas was taken to court for releasing yellow balloons?

Likewise, when others who said anything not liked by the previous government were arrested, and charged, when then-Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah was detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012, how many thoughts and prayers did you send?

Bruclax: I wonder what the defenders of the faith have to say about Najib equating his struggle with that of the Prophet Muhammad. This is a bit too much.

The Wakandan: What happened to Najib’s new tagline “Malu apa, bossku?” (You have nothing to be ashamed of, my boss). For Nooryana to beg for sympathy now antithetical to his new tagline.
