PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan has urged the DAP-led Penang to furnish details of the underwater tunnel project in light of the controversy surrounding it.

He made his remarks after it was revealed that the scandal behind the project allegedly involved the then chief minister Lim Guan Eng and several DAP leaders.

Controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin had posted a series of allegations regarding the project in his blog, which come with the purportedly leaked MACC investigation papers on the contractor of the project.

MACC chief Shukri Abdull told the media that his officers had lodged a report on the leak, while the Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had labelled Raja Petra as a liar.

Contacted by Malaysiakini today, Shukri said that he would let the police investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, Nasrudin raised a series of questions over the project as reported in the Harakah Daily.

"How much was the actual cost of the project? Was it openly tendered? And if so, reveal the details of the tender.

"What were the terms agreed between the developer and Lim including the deals involving the change of land lots at strategic locations in Penang? Please present the developer's background and partners involved.

"Are they all experienced and able to execute the project on this scale?"

He said the people deserved an explanation since the MACC has been investigating the corruption case pertaining to the project for than a year.

"This project is of public interest as there is an allegation that the mode of payment involves a land swap, which affects the environment.

"The people's right to know the status of the investigation cannot be denied," he said.

He believed that the continuous attack against PAS is an effort to cover up the Penang underwater tunnel scandal.

Raja Petra claimed the documents alleged that several DAP leaders, including Lim who is now finance minister, received kickbacks from the contractor.

The contractor allegedly revealed this information when he was arrested.
