Yoursay: Azmin walks into a trap set by Hadi

YOURSAY | ‘What was once promising is now decaying. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including Azmin.’

Azmin 'welcomes' Hadi's support for Dr M to complete full term

Unspin: Contrary to what Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali said, to ensure stability and continuity to stimulate investments, we need to outline a succession plan to the business community.

This is because Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not going to live forever and if something were to happen to him (touch wood), there will be a vacuum if there is no succession plan.

Mahathir has said many times that his successor is PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim and presumably investors, both within and outside the country, have factored that into their business plans.

If there are any changes or surprises to that arrangement, it would take a while before the investors are comfortable with Malaysia again.

Fair Malaysian: Well, this is something we have known all along. Azmin has always been cosy with PAS, even before GE14.

With hindsight, it was a big mistake that an "agreement" on a probable two years for the transfer of power was made orally. In these days and times, every bit of arrangement must be in writing.

This is causing a great deal of concern and some parties are using this loophole to stop Anwar from becoming PM.

Azmin's argument is not only shallow but smacks of hypocrisy. It is political opportunism. Azmin doesn't have any chance against Anwar without the support of PAS.

While Azmin can be part of PAS, the Islamic party will never allow him to be PM. They want to use him, that's all.

Who knows, my premonition says that Anwar will become PM by a twist of fate. Let’s wait and see.

Azmin had worked hard in the days of Reformasi but like his PKR rival Rafizi Ramli, he should have taken the people into confidence by continuing his sincere and hard work instead of scheming with his minions.

The last straw was his adventurism with PAS.

Idiotcracy: Obviously, this is mutiny and I wonder how on earth anyone could still believe Mahathir would keep to his words on succession promises.

Now that the ‘storm’ is slowly passing, Azmin is rearing his ugly head again to stir trouble in PKR. He’s looking for excuses to join Bersatu or even Gerakan to split and weaken PKR for Mahathir’s benefit.

And we still have idiots who think Anwar is going to be the eight PM without a fight. It took only one term for former premier Najib Abdul Razak to move 1MDB into full swing and yet we trust this ‘interim’ PM?

Ulanbatorian: Azmin, you have sealed your fate. By endorsing an opposition leader’s statement in supporting Mahathir to complete his five-year term, you are opposing your president’s succession to the PM’s post after two years.

I’m sorry to see a breakup of your party, which was doing well before this. The people have given the strong support you needed to oust the kleptocratic regime of MO1. Now this?

Speaking Sense: Indeed, this is an absolute betrayal of our votes. We never voted for PAS or Umno to run this country.

The whole reason for GE14 was to make sure parties like PAS and Umno and their corrupt and racist leaders will never have another chance to destroy this country. Shame on you, Azmin.

Fredtan: Now can Azmin's backers still say that Azmin is a loyal supporter of PKR or for that matter, Harapan coalition?

PKR vice president Tian Chua, who are the ones who are dividing the party and the coalition by ganging up with the enemy - PAS’ Abdul Hadi Awang - who obviously was trying to sow discord among the Harapan leaders?

How can Azmin said he agreed with the enemy for Mahathir to finish the full term as PM when Mahathir had stated so clearly that he would hand over the premiership to Anwar (albeit time not mentioned) as agreed by all the coalition partners?

That is a betrayal of the agreement made by all Harapan coalition partners before the last general election. Azmin was party to that agreement and yet now he does not want to fulfil it. What do you call a person who does not fulfil his promise or agreement?

Even Mahathir is more honourable (than Azmin) as he never once said (unequivocal at least) that he would carry on to complete the full term - he knows well the promise (agreement) he had made previously.

Anonymous_1543475877: My advice to Azmin - this kind of statement is destabilising to your party.

You may have your reasons. But it is best to explain to Anwar. Patch up with him and return to the party’s fold. You cannot win if there is instability in the party.

Mahathir must leave as promised. And Anwar will take over. Get into line and you will have your chance after Anwar.

Ipadder: Mahathir is the one causing this instability and uncertainty due to the way he is playing politics. Is it all ultimately for Mukhriz?

Please don't bother; your son has the ability and charisma of a lamp post.

SDMan: What was once promising is now decaying. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including Azmin.

However, what is the point of having an opinion when one is without any integrity? The Harapan leadership now have no choice but to step in and make its decision.

Kural: One wonders if the founding ideals of PKR are being compromised and adjusted to present realities and opportunities or if some of PKR founding members have been turned into opportunists and charlatans during the party’s two decades tenure.

It also seems that there is a new Peter Pan with a different sounding flute.

Vgeorgemy: We warned the progressive forces in this country on the consequences of the illegitimacy of Azmin’s government positions becoming an existential threat.

The minorities and disenfranchised communities must be wary about the Trojan horses in Harapan who are committed to delivering us to the sacrificial altars of religious right led by the likes of Zakir Naik and Hadi.

Yoursay: Is Harapan imploding over the succession issue?
