Aid totalling RM92,235 has been given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry (MOA) from the ‘Tabung Bencana Tanaman Padi’ (paddy planter’s disaster fund) to 47 farmers affected by natural disaster in Terengganu last year.

Its minister, Salahuddin Ayub, said RM51,051 was given to 18 paddy farmers under the Area Farmer’s Organisation (PPK) in Setiu and RM41,184 was given to 29 paddy farmers under PPK Kuala Terengganu whose fields were damaged by flood.

“For 260 farmers whose homes were damaged by flood, RM15,000 was given by the National Farmer’s Organisation.

“The ministry will ensure the welfare of farmers will be taken care of if they face difficulties due to a disaster,” he said during the aid presentation ceremony at Peladang Setiu Agro Resort yesterday.
