Selangor ruler expresses anger over mural vandalism
Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today expressed anger over the vandalism of murals depicting Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and several other of the country's leaders.
In a statement today, the Sultan believed that the unscrupulous individual who carried out the act was driven by hate politics.

In a statement today, the Sultan believed that the unscrupulous individual who carried out the act was driven by hate politics.
"The Sultan is of the view that the incident was not committed by a mentally unsound person or mischievous kids, but more towards the politics of hatred as the motive.
"The Sultan hoped that the perpetrator would soon be caught and hauled to face justice."
The murals at Section U12 Shah Alam were found vandalised with derogatory words sprayed on them.
They were painted earlier this month by three friends - Muhammad Suhaimi Ali or Miey Ali, 27, Abdul Hadi Ramli, 27, and Muhamad Firdaus Nordin, 26 - and the artwork had since gone viral on social media.
Besides the King, other public figures that were painted on the wall of a building there included Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Noor Hisham, as well as the Agong and the royal family, had even visited the giant murals.
According to a short video clip of the vandalised murals uploaded on Twitter this morning, the word "babi" (pig) was sprayed in several places including between the faces of Hadi and Muhyiddin as well as beside Sultan Abdullah's image.
Noor Hisham's portrait, meanwhile, had the word "bangsat" (illegitimate son) written across his face.
The Selangor ruler expressed disappointment over the incident and stressed that those words were rude.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam police chief Baharudin Mat Taib in a separate statement said that the police were probing the case under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace, and Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing damage through act of mischief.
We are angry about many things going on. We are upset about many things that is going on. We are sad about many other things going on. Those many other things are food, health, family, jobs, Covid 19.....simply putting it, about tomorrow. The person or persons responsible for it must be having so much anger to carry out such an irresponsible act. We must not only find the culprits, but need to get to the bottom of the issue, of finding out why they have so much anger and disrespect. If we just show anger, then this kind of behaviour will not end, but continue as this maybe their only avenue to voice.
