Shahidan dismisses ‘Umno to exit from PN’ as malicious rumour
Perikatan Nasional Backbencher’s Club chairperson Shahidan Kassim has reportedly dismissed allegations that Umno had discussed its exit from the Perikatan Nasional coalition at a meeting with the prime minister today.
Instead, he said the closed-door meeting was a regularly scheduled meeting between BN parliamentarians and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Instead, he said the closed-door meeting was a regularly scheduled meeting between BN parliamentarians and Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Umno’s supposed exit from the coalition was not discussed at the meeting, he said, and the meeting instead addressed parliamentary matters and ways to strengthen PN.
“There was no discussion on that issue (Umno leaving PN). If such a thing is true, it would have been discussed only between party presidents and not together with MPs.
“I don’t know where is this allegation coming from. It was Umno that wanted to form a coalition government, how could we want to leave PN now? There is no reason for Umno to leave PN.
“We discussed how to strengthen Parliament, in addition to expressing support for Muhyiddin as prime minister,” Berita Harian quoted Shahidan as saying today.
The report also said the BN delegation was led by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The meeting supposedly took place at the Parliament building at 1 pm today and lasted an hour.
Shahiddan reportedly told the Malay-language daily that no one issue was discussed in specific detail.
The position of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak - who was convicted for corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering yesterday - was not discussed at the meeting either, the Arau MP reportedly said.
