Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will address the nation at 6pm today on television.
According to promotional material for the event, Muhyiddin's address will be on the implementation of the movement control order.
This will be Muhyiddin's 17th live television address since taking power last March 1.
The address comes amidst very strong speculation among government circles that another round of strict lockdown rules - similar to ones seen between March 18 and May 4, 2020 - will be reimposed in the Klang Valley, Malacca, Penang, Johor, and Sabah.
The Covid-19 death toll reached 551 yesterday, with 77 percent of fatalities occurring between Sept 1, 2020 and now.
Most of the deaths were in Sabah (283) but the number of deaths from those residing in the Klang Valley has been steadily rising in recent weeks with 111 as of yesterday.
On Jan 6, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had warned that the country's public health system was at "breaking point" and that contact tracing efforts had been "breaking down".

Malaysiakini has been receiving constant reports that those who test positive for Covid-19 will have to wait days for follow-up action by the authorities.
There were also many reports from the public on long lines at private laboratories as more people have been informed that they are close contacts and have taken upon themselves to get tested.
