Inter-district and Inter-state travels beginning tomorrow will be allowed for those who have already purchased bus and flight tickets, says the defence minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Inter-district and inter-state travels would still be allowed for those who have already purchased bus and flight tickets despite the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) tomorrow, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The minister said this leeway is on top of those who have to travel to other districts or states for emergency purposes such as visiting family members at the hospital.
Inter-state travels will be disallowed beginning tomorrow. The drastic move has been taken to flatten the Covid-19 infection curve as announced by the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
"After the discussion with the police, there are cases in which we agreed to give leeway.
"For instance, those who have purchased flight tickets. We ask them not to cancel (their flights). Please proceed.
"Same goes to those who purchased bus tickets," he said in a media briefing today.
Ismail also urged city folks back in their home villages to return to the city before Friday.

Be patient for two weeks
Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced stricter measures amid the worsening Covid-19 outbreak which saw the country record new cases in the four digits since November.
It was followed by the declaration of emergency today which will be imposed up until August this year.
Six states under MCO are Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Putrajaya), Selangor, Penang, Melaka, Johor, and Sabah.
While states under the conditional MCO are Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan, as well as three zones in Sarawak which are Kuching, Sibu, and Miri.
Both the MCO and conditional MCO will be imposed until Jan 26. Perlis and the rest of Sarawak will be under the recovery MCO until March 31.
Following the restrictions, Ismail advised couples who are in a long-distance relationship and affected by the MCO and conditional MCO to be patient for at least two weeks.
According to Ismail, only two people are allowed in a car to go out for certain permitted activities such as buying groceries, jogging, and cycling. Other sports activities are not allowed.
For emergency cases, three people, including a patient, are allowed in a car to seek treatment at the clinic or hospital.
However, the police will exercise their discretion for certain cases that involve more than two people in a car such as parents who send their two children to kindergarten before going to work.
However, in conditional MCO states, a maximum of 10 people are allowed in a sport or recreational activity which does not involve physical contacts such as jogging and cycling.
