MCO in Sandakan from April 17, extended in Tawau until April 30 - Ismail Sabri

The movement control order (MCO) will be enforced in Sabah's Sandakan district from April 17 to 30 while in the Tawau district, where it is scheduled to end tomorrow, the MCO has been extended to April 30.
Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today, 46 new cases were recorded in Sandakan, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 6,806 in the district.
“The Ministry of Health confirmed that 78 cases were recorded within a period of 14 days with a high infectivity rate in this locality,” he said in a statement on the conditional MCO and MCO today.
On the extension of the MCO in Tawau, Ismail said the Health Ministry confirmed an increase in Covid-19 active cases from 124 to 729 within a period of 14 days.
"The Health Ministry also reported the detection of many new cases in Tawau while the enhanced MCO is being implemented at seven localities in the district," he added.
On the status of the enhanced MCO in certain areas of Sarawak, Ismail said it ended today in Kampung Binyu Lama in Kuching and Kampung Binyu Baru in Samarahan, and tomorrow it would end in Kampung Baji, Sarikei and Sungai Rassau, Batang Igan in Mukah.
It will also end at the Sungai Tenegang factory quarters in Kinabatangan, Sabah tomorrow as scheduled.
Meanwhile, he said the government had agreed to implement the enhanced MCO at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) and staff quarters in Kuching, as well as Sekolah Menengah Ugama (SMU) (Arab) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung, Mukim Wakaf Bharu, Tumpat, Kelantan effective from tomorrow until April 29.
On the enhanced MCO at the Kuching Pulapol and staff quarters, Ismail said the Health Ministry conducted 633 tests out of which, 123 positive cases were reported. He said the spread of the disease among trainees and residents was at a high infectivity rate.
At the SMU (Arab) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung, the Health Ministry had until yesterday conducted 113 screening tests, with 50 positive cases recorded so far.
Ismail also announced that the enhanced MCO at the Henry Gurney School in Telok Mas, Malacca, scheduled to end tomorrow, has been extended to April 30 after the Health Ministry conducted 1,710 tests out of which 191 were positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 55 individuals were detained for flouting the conditional MCO and recovery MCO SOPs yesterday, with 54 of them given compound notices and one remanded.
