Kit Siang nudges PM to clarify NSC flood fiasco
Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang has nudged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to clarify who is in charge of the state National Security Council (NSC) in Selangor.
This came amid complaints of poorly coordinated rescue responses following sustained downpours and flash floods caused by a tropical depression.

Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang has nudged Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to clarify who is in charge of the state National Security Council (NSC) in Selangor.
This came amid complaints of poorly coordinated rescue responses following sustained downpours and flash floods caused by a tropical depression.
"The claim by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Noh Omar that he is still the Selangor state chairperson of the NSC after the Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari claimed that he has resumed the task of the state NSC chief beg imagination.
"Has the federal government, which Ismail Sabri gave 90 percent score to his jumbo-sized cabinet for its first 100-day performance, quickly descended into a kakistocracy where the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing?
"Genius overnight became a dud? Who is now the Selangor chairperson of the NSC – Amirudin or Noh?" Lim (above) asked in a statement.
He went on to urge Ismail Sabri, who chairs at the NSC at the federal level, to shed light on the matter.
"Can the prime minister make an announcement to clear the air? Such a conundrum should not arise in the midst of the deadliest floods disaster, which has claimed 27 lives so far, the highest death toll since the last major floods in 2014, and still counting.
"Or is the prime minister as 'confused' on the matter as Noh and Amirudin and could throw no light on the matter?" the veteran DAP lawmaker asked.
Poor emergency response
Lim echoed the criticisms made by former minister Rafidah Aziz and Bersatu leader Rais Hussin over the poor emergency response to the flash floods.
He also criticised the federal government for not bringing the devastating floods for debate in the Dewan Rakyat.
Amirudin had, on Dec 21, said he has again resumed the task of state NSC chief and blamed the slow floods assistance response in Selangor to him not being appointed to the post much earlier.
However, the entrepreneur development and cooperative minister panned Amirudin for being "confused".
Noh said there were two committees under the state NSC and he remained in charge of the committee in charge of security while the other on disaster management is chaired by the state secretary.
