Cars towed not due to PM's visit - DAP rep
The towing of vehicles submerged by the flooding last weekend has nothing to do with a scheduled visit by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to Hulu Langat today, according to Dusun Tua assemblyperson Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof.
When contacted, Edry said efforts to move the vehicles, now stranded on the roads after water levels finally receded, had started earlier.
"We have already started towing. The towing has nothing to do with PM's visit," he told Malaysiakini.
"After the floods, there were many cars submerged and stranded. Some were blocking the roads.

"Now we want to clear the roads so the cleaning machinery can enter the area," he said.
Edry also confirmed that the towing activities were carried out as a "high priority" by the Kajang Municipal Council and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council.
He said this in response to a Facebook post by a volunteer from Taman Casa Lagenda, Hulu Langat, who earlier today said her Mitsubishi Triton and other vehicles were towed without their knowledge, supposedly ahead of Ismail's visit.
The volunteer, Lia Jamalee, in an update, said all the vehicles towed from Sri Nanding and Taman Casa Lagenda were later found at the Agora Night Market.
Edry, meanwhile, noted Ismail's visit had caused a disruption in the area, including an ambulance that was seen left waiting at a traffic light for a VVIP convoy to pass.
It wasn't apparent based on a 29-second video shared on Twitter whether the ambulance with its siren lights on was transporting any patient.
"That was at Pekan Batu 14. In the video he would be heading away from Taman Sri Nanding," he said.
Earlier today, Edry posted a picture of himself on a motorcycle having apparently been turned back from the area where Ismail was scheduled to attend a Keluarga Malaysia community clean-up activity.
The Selangor DAP leader also took a swipe at police who appeared to be fierce with him but failed to attend local disaster management committee meetings.
