Covid-19 (June 29): 2,605 new cases, ICU use rising

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,605 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 28,714, up 16.9 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (865)
Selangor (730)
Sabah (163)
Perak (152)
Penang (138)
Negeri Sembilan (105)
Malacca (102)
Johor (66)
Kedah (57)
Putrajaya (57)
Pahang (56)
Sarawak (53)
Kelantan (24)
Terengganu (23)
Perlis (8)
Labuan (6)

Another five deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one case was declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Malacca (2), Pahang (2) and Selangor (1).

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,763 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 87 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 129 deaths last month and 564 deaths in April.

There are 1,187 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 40 are in intensive care.

The number of patients in intensive care has not been this high since May 16.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (170) followed by Johor (105) and Sabah (59).
