Covid-19 (July 2): 2,527 new cases, no fatalities

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,527 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative infections to 4,571,355.

Active cases stood at 30,385, up 17.2 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New infections according to states are as follows:

Selangor (798)
Kuala Lumpur (726)
Perak (201)
Sabah (154)
Negeri Sembilan (137)
Penang (127)
Johor (79)
Putrajaya (65)
Malacca (58)
Kedah (56)
Pahang (43)
Sarawak (40)
Terengganu (18)
Kelantan (14)
Perlis (9)
Labuan (2)

No deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday.

Over the past week, an average of 3.7 people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.0, indicating that such deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,771 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been six reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 89 deaths last month and 129 in May.

There are 1,617 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 43 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (184) followed by Johor (99) and Sabah (75).
